Family business takes top accolade at Asian Business Awards
At the Asian Trader Awards, Nisa retailer Sanjeev Vadhera was awarded the top award, Asian Trader of the Year 2012, beating fierce competition in the independent retail sector.
Sanjeev and his brother Naveen, have developed their business North East Convenience Stores, which has delivered rapid growth over the course of the past two years. To date the company has 19 stores and over 250 staff, all of which operate in the Nisa symbol group, and it has received substantial support from the group in its development.
Throughout the course of the past year the company has won five prestigious industry awards including: Best Multiple Convenience Store at the Convenience Retail Awards in March, Best Independent Retail Chain at the Grocer Gold awards, Independent Retail Chain of the Year at the Retail Industry Awards and lastly Sanjeev won the ACS’ Achievement Academy Award 2012.

Recently Dave Pickford joined the Group as Commercial Director. Dave had previously worked for the Mills Group since 1999 in the capacity of Sales and Marketing Director and since the sale of Mills to One Stop he has held the position of Managing Director of the remaining NISAEXTRA Supermarkets owned by Nigel Mills. Dave’s addition to the Team is pivotal to our future growth ambitions and these fanstasic awards clearly demonstrates our commitment to growing our organic and new business.
