Family Business Apprentice 2020

27th November 2019 Paul Andrews

Recognising the investment that family businesses across the UK make in their apprenticeship programmes, these awards have been created to celebrate the contribution apprentices make to family firms.

Historically Family Business United ('FBU') has celebrated the role of apprentices in family firms for three years and 2020 will see the crowning of the fourth Family Business Apprentice of the Year.

For 2020, we are creating a bespoke event to recognise the role of apprentices in family firms across the UK and are currently seeking nominations from family businesses of apprentices that go 'go above and beyond' and are already making a great impression on the businesses that they work for.

Nominations are open until December 31 and at that point we will send out an information pack to the nominated businesses to complete and return.  A shortlist of no more than 20 finalists will then be announced and the finalists will be invited to an event, to be accompanied by members of the business, to celebrate their success.  One of the apprentices will be announced as the winner of the Family Business Apprentice of the Year title.

As Paul Andrews, founder of FBU explains, "Apprentices make a significant contribution to family firms across the UK each and every day and some really do stand apart from day one due to their endeavours.  We like to celebrate that effort and give recognition to the individuals whilst at the same time recognising the importance that family firms have in providing opportunities for young people to enter the workplace too."

Apprentices from all across the UK are eligible to be nominated for the award and can do so by completing the simple nomination form that can be downloaded via the 'download button' below (or sending an email to and one can be sent to you) and returning it before the 31 December deadline.

Further details about the event including the judges will be announced in due course.
