HMG Takes To Speedway Track!

13th January 2020 Paul Andrews

Having previously seen their coatings on track at events such as the Le Mans 24 Hours and the X-Games, Manchester based HMG Paints’ coatings will be heading to the Speedway track in 2020.

The companies Powder Coatings and Wet Paint will be used by young talent Billy Budd, who was signed by Birmingham Brummies to be their new club mascot for 2020.

The 12-year-old, from Ellesmere Port, began riding Formula Grass Track at the age of six and progressed through the auto cadets into the cubs at the age of eight. Having won the cubs title twice Billy moved up to the juniors a year early and impressed club bosses as he was crowned Champion last season.

For the coming season Billy’s bike will utilise HMG’s high-performance coatings and flexible PVC coatings as he competes in the Speedway Youth Series, with his sights fixed on gaining rides in the Northern Junior League. Speedway Bikes have no brakes, just one gear, a clutch and 500cc engine can accelerate to 60 mph faster than a Formula One car.

“This is a great opportunity for Billy especially at his age and is recognition of his talent, we hope this is the first step of a successful Speedway career,” Commented Paddy Dyson, HMG Paints Marketing Manager. “This is the first time we’ll get to see our coatings on the Speedway track too, and opens the option for us to explore a new market for our paints.”

HMG Paints provide a wide range of innovative coatings including Graphene infused Primers and Topcoats that provide improved damage and corrosion resistance which are perfect for the rigorous demands of the Speedway track. The companies Signature Finish Powder Coatings range also provides a range of special finishes including; candy sparkle and metallic ideal for competitors who want their frames to be unique.
