Family Business United members Tilney, Smith & Williamson are hosting an Autumn Q&A event, which will feature panellists who have shown that women can thrive in the face of adversity. In addition to telling their stories, the session will examine themes such as resilience, motivation and dealing with setbacks.

Jenny Whitehouse and Eleanor Wotherspoon will be hosting this event.

Panellists for this event include:

Sue Wright – barrister and M&A adviser. Starting life in Liverpool, Sue ended up in foster care but still managed to carve a diverse and successful career from Lehman brothers in both London and NY, to becoming a barrister, MD of Signature Living and current successful career in M&A.

She made at a young age a positive choice to only adopt and foster children and has 4 children. In her spare time she is a huge dog rescue supporter.

Christie Murray – Christie is a Scotland International. Since making her debut in 2010, Christie has amassed 68 caps with the national team having played in both the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the UEFA Women’s Euros 2017. Christie currently captains Birmingham City in the FA WSL; having previously played for Arsenal, Liverpool and Celtic.

In addition to pursuing her football career Christie has obtained a BA degree in Sports Studies from Stirling University where she was part of the first intake for The SFA’s National Performance Centre.

Laura and Rachel Beattie – Rachel and Laura Beattie are graduates of the Prince’s Trust Enterprise programme which supports young people into self-employment. They launched their business, Careaux, in 2019 and brought to market their unique dresses – the clever design means that the dresses will fit women of all shapes and sizes and can be ‘mixed and matched’ to create different looks.

Laura and Rachel have won many awards – Innovator of the Year, Young Entrepreneur, One to Watch, and they were named on the Northern Powerhouse Future List.

This will be an interactive session with the opportunity for live Q&A. Advance registration is required.
