Environmental Street furniture (ESF) Ltd, the award-winning designer and supplier of street
furniture from Newtownabbey Co Antrim, recently completed their third major HVM
(hostile vehicle mitigation) security project in Dubai, UAE with support from the local Invest
NI office.
ESF, best known for their innovation and design in outdoor furniture, have developed their
HVM security range to offer unparalleled protection and safety to public and assets globally.
ESF currently exports to 27 countries and growing.
Working with their local UAE partners, Tanseeq, ESF designed and supplied the RTA (Road
Traffic Authority) of Dubai with forty bollards for three metro stations. The bollards, tested
and certified to UK standard, PAS68 K12 ratings, are designed to withstand a vehicle of 7.5
tonnes travelling at up to 50mph.
“Dubai is a market that requires tailored solutions. I’m delighted that small Northern
Ireland manufacturers have been able to supply to a high standard of specification for all of
our projects in Dubai. The pandemic took quite a toll on small business exporters, but for
ESF it also provided an opportunity to review our strategy and, working with local
manufacturing partners in Northern Ireland, add to our range of outdoor furniture solutions
for customers in the UK, Ireland and overseas”, said, Alan Lowry, CEO and current Chairman
of the FSB in Northern Ireland.
Congratulating the company, Swathi Sri, Invest NI’s Head of Territory IMEA said “ESF has a
long-standing relationship with Invest NI and we are delighted to be supporting them
achieve its growth potential. Their recent work with Dubai’s RTA is a testament to the
company’s hard work and determination to grow its business in the region and this has
been recognised with them recently being awarded as Northern Irish Exporter of the Year
by the Causeway Ireland Scotland Business Exchange.”
Alan Lowry added, “Securing the Dubai Coca Cola arena project back in 2018 firmly
established ESF as a market leader in perimeter security and HVM projects, and we followed
that up with success at Expo 2020 in the UAE pavilion and now with the RTA making Dubai
Metro stations safer for passengers. Having local support from Invest NI’s teams in the
region is invaluable as many new projects are emerging post the pandemic and from major
new developments in Saudi Arabia”.
