Cheshire Air Conditioning Services is a family-run business originating in London. Starting their journey over 12 years ago, with just one engineer and one administrative assistant whilst also raising a young family, the business has grown to be able to offer air conditioning services nationwide, with a team of experienced and knowledgeable engineers in the mobile air conditioning business.
Run by husband and wife team, Nick and Gemma Morton, this family business is certainly one to watch, family values underpin all that they do, honest and authentic customer service and a desire to do business right is at their heart and they can certainly be described as a ‘breath of fresh air’ in the way that they do what they do.
Managing director Nick has over 20 year’s experience in the air conditioning industry having started his career on large scale installations in the hospitality industry. After 10 years of building up a wealth of experience diagnosing and repairing faults on multiple manufactures units, he made the decision to start his own business as a mobile air conditioning engineer after being made redundant. At the time he was also being approached by numerous other organisations looking or his skills. As Nick explains, “The time was right and it was time to start our own journey. It was not easy as we had a young family but the time was right and it has been fantastic to see the business grow the way that it has.”
As Gemma continues, “We began the business in London, and started to work with clients radiating outside of the M25. After working hard to build a reliable and trustworthy reputation in London and the South East of England, we quickly became a name synonymous with a high-quality standard of work in the air conditioning repair and maintenance industry. We realised that service this good just had to be shared, so we opened a second branch in the North West of England and took the bold step to relocate the family to Cheshire.”
They opened the Cheshire office in 2017and began from scratch building their reputation in the air conditioning market. Not only do they bring a wealth of experience and expertise but a desire to operate in the right way, providing the right equipment to meet the needs of each individual customer and offering the right advice to enhance their reputation too. As Gemma adds, “We are a good team and care about what we do and I think that helps to set us apart in the sector. We work hard but also make sure that we have time to spend with the kids so they are part of the journey too. Family values are really important to us and above all we want to do the right thing, by ourselves and our family but also our staff and their families and of course our customers.”
This is a business that also cares about the community in which they are based and continue to operate and giving back is important to them. “We really enjoy building community links and helping youth projects across the region, from youth sports teams to school projects. As a young family ourselves we know how important supporting community programmes are to young people, we are very proud to be able to support these clubs so they can help offer outstanding and much needed services,” continues Nick.
The business is now well established with a growing customer base and Nick and Gemma have really begun to embrace life in the family firm. As Gemma adds, “When we first moved to Cheshire we worked pretty much non-stop to build the business and plant the foundations of what the business has become today, and to plan the steps towards a successful future. Doing that at the same time as raising a young family was not easy but we are thrilled with how it has grown and where we are today. Nick and I are both getting better at switching off, making time for us and the family, be it walks in the forest or kayaking with the kids. We make more effort to balance the family and the business but it is not always that easy.”
There is an energy about this business that is palpable. You cannot fail to recognise the collective desire to do the right thing, make a difference and build a successful business, but there is more to it than just business. This is a family firm that truly cares, really goes the extra mile with their staff and has a real authenticity for all to see.
They are still a young business, a family business with a true purpose and ones to watch going forward as they take on new challenges, help to shape the future of their sector and continue to give back in so many ways.
As we started out, and no pun intended, this family business really is a ‘breath of fresh air.’
