O’Donovan Waste Collaborates With ‘Community Wood Recycling’

O’Donovan Waste has recently collaborated with Community Wood Recycling; a leading environmental and social enterprise network, as it continues its stellar work to support local community projects. A dynamic waste management company, O’Donovan is a leader in the waste and construction sectors with an excellent reputation for service, compliance and demonstrates ongoing excellence in environmental practices processing over one million tonnes of waste annually, diverting 100% of waste from landfill.

Community Wood Recycling provides commercial waste wood collection services across the country. The network is made up of thirty social enterprises, all working to save timber for reuse while creating jobs and providing training for disadvantaged or unemployed people. In 2021/22 the network rescued over 24,000 tonnes of timber from the waste stream, with the wood being reused and repurposed and generating funds that contributed to the provision of over 10,000 days of training back to the community.

Managing Director Richard Mehmed said: “O’Donovan Waste Disposal will create real social value by working with Community Wood Recycling. Our partnership will help to build a circular economy and allow us to provide opportunities to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. We are very grateful for this support, and we look forward to our relationship going from strength to strength.”

Jacqueline O’Donovan, managing director of O’Donovan Waste commented: “As a company that has sustainability and the protection of the environment at the heart of our business, we are delighted to be involved with Community Wood Recycling. Working together promotes and supports our shared values and commitment to greener and sustainable use of precious resources that in turn creates meaningful benefits for the community.”
