More and more family firms are taking on apprentices as a way to bring the next generation of employees into their business, ensuring that the skills required are available and that the staffing needs of the business going forward are filled.
Today, more and more opportunities exist for apprentices in different areas of the business including accounts, marketing and digital services. In light of the recent report into Apprenticeship Employers published by The National Apprenticeship Service, we wanted to investigate the use of apprentices within the family business sector. To that end, we have developed a methodology to weight the use of apprentices within family firms and are now launching the search for entries to enable us to compile the inaugural inaugural annual report into the top family business apprentice employers.
Entry is open to any UK based family business that employs more than 5 apprentices and once the results are in a report will be created to identify the top family businesses when it comes to employing apprentices. A social media campaign will be available to support the employers and as an organisation, Family Business United will feature a number of businesses and their apprentices on their award-winning magazine, www.familybusinessunited.com
All that is needed to enter and be in with a chance of making it into the final report is to complete the simple registration form below.
As Paul Andrews, Founder of Family Business United explains, “Apprenticeships are no longer simply aligned to the manufacturing and engineering sectors and we wanted to gauge the extent to which other sectors are employing apprentices within their family firms. We look forward to identifying the top family business apprentice employers and sharing the results in due course.”
This is the latest research being undertaken by Family Business United, the champions of the family business sector and the final report will be made available in the Autumn.
