Premium eco-friendly hand sanitiser brand, Purdy & Figg, has successfully raised over £500,000 in its first round of seed fundraising. The investment will fund the company’s ambitious expansion plans, including a range of eco-friendly refillable cleaning products launching early Spring 2021.
Founded by two friends in their sixties; NHS nurse Purdy Rubin and horticulturalist Charlotte Figg, Purdy & Figg was born from a desire to protect the environment by reducing plastic waste and toxic chemicals found in cleaning products while embracing the power of natural ingredients. Charlotte and Purdy developed their own all-natural cleaning products in Purdy’s garage, and began hosting workshops teaching consumers to create their own in 2018.
Inspired by the need for a natural, refillable, bacteria-killing alternative to mass produced hand sanitising gels, the company launched its refillable hand sanitising spray in April 2020. The sprays come in recyclable glass bottles, with a refill programme encouraging reuse of every bottle, making the product even more sustainable.
Within six months of launching its hand sanitising spray, Purdy & Figg donated over 400 care packages to NHS hospitals and ICUs and have sold over 250,000 bottles through its website purdyandfigg.com. It has become a firm favourite with customers thanks to its moisturising and protective qualities, but most importantly, its eco-friendly credentials.
Purdy & Figg will continue to develop its wider cleaning range in 2021 with its core values in place; creating affordable products made from quality natural ingredients that smell amazing, are packaged sustainably and are as effective as name-brand. With these values in place, Purdy & Figg seek to transform cleaning into a truly pleasurable experience while protecting our environment and promoting the use of natural ingredients.
