Family Firm Leads Charge With Online Skip Booking Service

More and more people are going online to hire their skips. The COVID-19 pandemic and enforced lockdown gave many people the opportunity to take on new home improvement projects, creating a surge in demand for skips, which pushed many people online for a simple solution.

This shows no signs of being a passing trend. As techno-literacy increases and telephone usage falls, it becomes increasingly convenient to carry out transactions online. Younger people are buying their first homes and are using ecommerce sites to hire skips for renovations, and older people who might have previously conducted business over the phone are becoming more comfortable with online retail.

H Brown & Son (Recycling), a Stoke-on-Trent based skip hire company, reported an 808% increase in online bookings year-on-year compared to 2019, generating over 200 skip hire bookings online every month during the height of lockdown.

Dominique Brown at H Brown Recycling stated: “We came to Adtrak with the goal to establish ourselves as a market leader in the Staffordshire region for skip hire and commercial waste management and outperform our competition online.”

“Before, if a customer wanted to book a skip when our office was closed, they would need to wait for us to arrange this with them, but now having an online booking platform has meant that customers have found it easier and quicker to instantly book skips for their home projects.”

UK marketing agency Adtrak created their skip hire ecommerce platform, designed to help skip hire companies take advantage of the increase in demand for online skip hire bookings. It allows businesses to lease skips, manage payments and orders and even handle permits, ensuring the customer has everything they need to arrange a skip delivery.

Adtrak’s Head of Marketing Strategy, George Musson, had the following to say: “Due to the ongoing pandemic, people are spending more time online than ever before. This means consumer behaviour is changing rapidly and especially in the waste management sector.”

“We’re very proud to provide our clients with our online skip hire booking platform, giving them the chance to scale their operation and appease customers who want a quick and simple method of booking skips online.”
