A Golden Gift For Broughton Removals

2020 sees Broughton Removals celebrating 50 years as a family business and they have even more to celebrate now having won the Scottish Family Business of the Year title at the National Family Business of the Year Awards organised by Family Business United (‘FBU’).

As Paul Andrews, Founder and CEO of FBU explains, “These awards are a true celebration of the family business sector in the UK today and Broughtons are worthy winners of the Scottish title.”

When Mr Sonny Munro founded Broughton Removals in 1970, he wanted to give Edinburgh a removal company that offered the highest quality service at the best possible price. Over five decades later, still family owned and operated, that vision remains the same.

As Paul continues, “Outstanding customer service from experienced, dedicated removal crews is at the heart of everything Broughtons do. Taking you from A to B with TLC is the ‘Broughton Way’ and it clearly works!”

“Family run since they start started, some of their team members have been with them for more than 20 years.  Family values are at the heart of this family firm and form the basis of the service that they deliver.  Pride, passion and heritage come together in a family firm that clearly demonstrate their desire to succeed and with the second generation now at the helm, they look set to remain family owned for years to come.  This is a family firm that reflects the very nature of the purpose behind these awards and Broughtons are worthy winners this year,” concludes Paul.

Jo Munro, Director of Broughtons and one of the next generation at the family firm was delighted with the win, adding that “This award means such a lot to us and is real recognition of all the hard work that our family and the wider team have put in over the years to help make the business the success that it is today.  This award would not be possible without our fantastic staff, or the endeavour over the years of Mum & Dad.”

“2020 has been a tough year and this is a real boost for us as a business, not to mention the morale of the team.  I am so pleased for my Mum and Dad too as it all started with them and we all know that there are times when running  a family firm is  like being on a rollercoaster. I think my Dad was genuinely surprised to see the business that he founded with an £80 van has been recognised in this way.  We are truly proud and humbled by this award and it has given us even more of a reason to continue to celebrate our 50 years as a family business too.  Thank you to the judges for their efforts and to Family Business United for organising such a great event,” concludes Jo.
