About Ingram Entertainment Inc.

Ingram Entertainment Inc. is the nation’s leading video supplier for the supermarket, drug and video specialty channel of trade with accounts ranging from one-store locations to national multi-store chains.

Ingram Entertainment Inc. was formed in 1980 as one of Ingram Industries Inc.’s umbrella of companies to focus on video distribution.  Initially, the company only distributed video to bookstores.   In 1982, the company began distribution to video stores and other non-bookstore retailers.  Additionally, in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the company diversified its product offerings by adding audio and laser disc lines.

The company’s growth in the late 1980s was fueled in large part by the 1987 acquisition of Home Entertainment and the 1989 acquisition of Metro Video.

In June 1992, Ingram Entertainment Inc., then the second largest distributor in the industry, acquired and merged with Commtron Corp., the largest entertainment software distributor in the U.S. This transaction added not only management and associates, but also additional product lines including electronics, video games and Monarch Home Entertainment, one of the nation’s oldest suppliers of independently produced feature films.

In August 1994, David B. Ingram became President of Ingram Entertainment Inc. In April 1996, Mr. Ingram advanced to the position of Chairman and President.  Under Mr. Ingram’s leadership, Ingram Entertainment Inc. completed the acquisition of Major Video Concepts, Inc., a national home entertainment products distributor based in Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 18, 2000; and V.P.D. IV, Inc., a national home entertainment products distributor based in Folsom, California, on June 30, 2014.  These transactions have solidified Ingram Entertainment Inc.’s position as the largest video distributor in the U.S.

Today, Ingram Entertainment Inc. is led by Robert W. Webb, President and Chief Executive Officer, Robert A. Geistman, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Thomas W. Kielty, Executive Vice President of Sales.  Mr. Ingram and W. Donnie Daniel, who previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the company, remain very active in the management of the company as its Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively.
