11th October 2017 Paul Andrews
Aveley Lodge Care Home in Fingringhoe, Colchester has been shortlisted in the East of England Care Awards 2017 and is in the running for no fewer than 10 prestigious regional awards.
The residential care home and several of its staff have been shortlisted in the following award categories: The Care Team Award, The Putting People First Award (whole team), Care Home Chef Award (Tracey Winkworth), Care Innovator Award (Suzanne Parmenter), Ancillary Worker Award (Michelle Dance), Care Assessor Award (Jackie Rickett) and four awards for Senior Carer Sarah Fox in the Frontline Leader, Palliative Care/End of Life, Care Worker and Dignity Awards.
In each category, up to eight finalists have been selected, who go through to the next stage of the judging process where they will be interviewed on a set judging day with all the other finalists from around the region present. Trophies and certificates will then be presented to the overall winners at a glittering awards ceremony on Thursday 9th November at The Holiday Inn in Peterborough.
Registered Care Home Manager and business Co-Owner Michael Parmenter explains “We at Aveley Lodge are immensely proud and thrilled to have been nominated for no fewer than 10 awards. I’m unaware of any other care home being shortlisted for so many and varied categories. The team as a whole at Aveley and all the individuals who have been shortlisted have worked tirelessly and so hard to get to this stage. It is amazing to think that we, as a small, 25 bed, independent, family run Care Home have got this far and are up against some of the huge, national chains who have hundreds of care homes located across the UK and employee thousands of employees."
"It’s lovely to get regional and national recognition for the brilliant work we do. We are very proud of the high standards of both care and living environment we offer. We provide residential care for the elderly and those with Dementia in a bright, warm and welcoming environment in the picturesque village of Fingringhoe just outside Colchester and employ just 26 staff overall. I am very passionate about individuals receiving the care, dignity and respect they deserve and as I always say, “Care Comes First” and it will always do so whilst I am at the head of this fantastic company that I am so very proud of."
Aveley Lodge’s senior carer Jackie Rickett won the Care Worker Award at last year’s East of England Care Awards and went on to represent all care workers for the whole of the East Anglian region at The Great British Care Awards where she was a runner up. Aveley Lodge is obviously keen to retain this title at this year’s awards and add to their trophy haul.
The awards are organised by The Great British Care Awards with support from “Key Partners” who are an exclusive alliance of suppliers and supporters of the Great British Care Awards. Each of the 9 regions around the UK hold their own awards finals over the next few months. The winners of each category in each of the regional awards go through to the national Great British Care Awards final to be held in Birmingham in March 2018.
