New Innovation Director For Family Business

25th November 2014 Paul Andrews

English Provender Company announces appointment of new Innovation Director

English Provender Company, the food manufacturer of chutneys, dressings and cooking ingredients, has announced the appointment of Lucy Balmer as Innovation Director in a newly created role.  The appointment, which commenced recently, follows the opening of the English Provender Company Innovation Centre, earlier this year and will allow the business to continue to focus on and drive innovation.

Lucy brings with her 18 years of industry experience as a product developer across key retailers such as Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury’s, and brands including Dorset Cereals and Tyrrells. A passionate foodie, Lucy has managed her own successful food consultancy business since 2009.

Stephen Hughes, Managing Director of English Provender Company, comments on the new role. “The EPC Board is pleased to announce that Lucy Balmer has joined English Provender as Innovation Director. The new role supports our three year growth strategy and our recent investment in the Innovation Centre. Lucy will head up the NPD and Marketing departments, innovating for growth in both retail own label and branded sectors as well as developing our B2B business.”

The Innovation Centre was opened in July by Richard Benyon, MP and Aldo Zilli and is home to a state of the art development kitchen and customer presentation facilities. The company’s brands include The English Provender Co., Very Lazy and represents Newman’s Own, the ‘all profits to charity’ brand in Europe.
