Greater Manchester Family Business Day

8th May 2017 Paul Andrews

A celebration of the diversity, strength and contribution that family businesses make to the Greater Manchester economy and beyond.

The Greater Manchester Family Business Association and Family Business United have joined forces to bring you the region's first Family Business Day; a celebration of the diversity, strength and contribution that family businesses make to the Greater Manchester economy and beyond.

The day will play out on social media using the hashtag #GMFamBizDay2017.

The day will culminate in an event at the Marriott Htoel at Manchester Airport where the keynote speakers will be Rebecca Jeffery from Fi & Becs and star of BBC One's The Apprentice 2016, and Nick Bianchi, Business Development Director of Arighi Bianchi in Macclesfield.

Becs Jeffery set up her own successful marketing and design agency with her sister Fi in 2013. Starting their business over a pot of tea and two laptops with no funding or financial loans just over three years ago, the two sisters have grown Fi & Becs Design & Marketing into a profitable business which now works with over 180 clients across the UK, Germany, China, Ireland, Canada and the USA.

With an impressive portfolio of clients that includes the retail giants Matalan, Fi & Becs pride themselves on providing friendly, flexible and creative services to businesses both big and small; including many start-ups and family run companies.

In 2016 Becs successfully managed to become a candidate on The Apprentice on BBC One and survived six weeks before being fired in a comedy soap/soup mix-up and declaring that she “wasn’t enough of a tw*t” to win.

Staying true to their flexible, honest and friendly approach, the sisters firmly believe that approachability has been key to their success and their client portfolio has grown so rapidly due to honesty, friendliness and non-salesy behaviour!

Nick Bianchi is the Business Development Director of Arighi Bianchi, a Fourth Generation family furniture retail business based in Macclesfield. This June, they celebrate their 164th anniversary and they are proud that the company is still run, owned and managed directly by the family.

From the moment Antonio Arighi, the Founder, arrived on these shores from Italy, the business have constantly strived to be the best at offering the best customer care and displaying high quality products. Over the business history, they have had stores in Buxton, Wilmslow and Prestbury but now focus the business from a 70,000 sq ft showroom in Macclesfield. This is backed by a fully transactional e-commerce platform which going from strength to strength.
