FBU Expands With New Scottish Office
10th April 2015 Paul Andrews
FBU Scotland launches as demand across Scotland grows.
Family Business United founder and champion of the family business sector, Paul Andrews, is delighted to announce the opening of a new office in Scotland to support Scottish family businesses, something that he is passionate about.
Having founded Family Business United in 2011, it has become the leading online magazine and resource centre for family firms across the UK and is now in a position to move on with the next stage in its growth with the opening of the bespoke Scottish offering, Family Business United Scotland (‘FBUS’).
FBUS will take forward the ongoing initiatives of FBU in Scotland, including Scottish Family Business Week (November 10-18, 2015), and develop more resources to assist Scottish family firms from its base in Glasgow.
As Paul explains, “Two years ago we undertook the first ever research into the oldest family firms in Scotland and since then have uncovered some amazing Scottish family firms. Support from the family business community in Scotland has been fantastic and we are delighted to be able to offer something more to our growing Scottish audience.”
With around 200,000 family firms across Scotland, there is a need for an organisation to support their endeavours and through the various FBUS platforms, backed by supporters of the likes ofincluding Craig Corporate, Close Brothers and Turcan Connell, now is an ideal time to launch this new initiative.
FBUS Scotland has launched a helpline for Scottish Family Firms to seek advice on the issues of importance to them, from engaging the next generation to succession planning, or creating an exit route for the current generation, to creating the right governance structure and more besides. This free initial consultation is available to all Scottish family businesses free of charge on 0141 243 4988.
As Tom Craig, Chairman of Craig Corporate and one of the key partners supporting FBUS adds, “We are delighted to support FBUS as it continues to grow in the UK and in Scotland helping family businesses connect with each other. FBUS is providing platforms for businesses to come together and discuss similar issues, challenges and opportunities. The helpline will be beneficial to all family businesses especially for those who are not sure where to turn.”
Furthermore, as Paul concludes, “FBUS is open for membership and offers great value for money as well as access to leading resources, regular ebulletins, innovative events (many at no additional cost), and discounted rates for the annual flagship event, The Scottish Family Business Conference.”
Family Business United Scotland has been set up to champion the family business sector and this new offering across Scotland is the regular extension of what we are all about. We look forward to engaging with some great Scottish family firms and welcoming them to FBUS in due course.
